Active Imagination first came on to the sports scene by working with professional teams. In 1996, when agency owner Adam Nisenson made the first cold call of his life to the Houston Rockets. Seeing the small firm’s talent and sensing the passion of a true fan, the Rockets hired Active Imagination to produce an invitation to the team’s charity gala, and then asked the firm to stay on to develop the campaign for the 1997 season. The relationship quickly grew to the point that the Rockets were depending on Active Imagination for all of their season branding and theme development, as well as the creation of all collateral materials and tickets.
As word about the quality of the firm’s work for the Rockets began to spread in the sports community, Active Imagination started attracting other sports clients. By 2004, Active Imagination was working or had worked with some of the sports industry’s biggest names, including all of Houston’s “Big 3”: the Texans, Rockets and Astros, as well as the Super Bowl XXXVIII Host Committee, the Dew Action Sports Tour, the Seattle Seahawks, the New York Yankees, the PGA Tour Championship and ESPN.
